What I Didn’t Learn in School (and Should Have)

One of the many, many benefits of working at Natural Grocers is that they care about our education on nutrition. Once a month we have a two hour meeting catching up on what’s in the nutrition news, the benefits of the different vitamins we’re selling, and answering any questions we have about health in general. Chimney Gulch / Lookout Mountain Trail

I went on my first heavy hike of the season! With Kolin being at work, Max & I were feelin’ up to the task of a 9 mile hike (there & back), 2,000 elevation gain of Lookout Mountain. It was perfect weather & hardly anyone on the  trail. The hike up was filled with stopping at every creek crossing for Max to take a dip, having butterflies land on my arm, seeing my first ginormous BULL SNAKE, and realizing how out of shape I still am. Ah, but was it worth it. Continue reading

‘Ello fellow readers. I am still trying to figure out all this blog craziness. It’s been fun figuring it all out and realizing how invested I am & want to be in this blog. I definitely feel gravitated towards this idea and I want to keep pursuing this. Also, getting all of your positive feedback has been amazing, so thank you! Continue reading

Hello world!

Hey everyone! It’s my first blog post & let me tell you I am quite excited! Over the past couple years my mindset, goals, and future plans have changed tremendously. My views on life keeps evolving and I want to share with anyone who is stuck in the same rut I was in.

Senior year of high school is probably when I started questioning things I’ve never questioned before. Little things, like why am I joining sports I’m no longer interested in? Why am I feeling so much pressure with my future career when I’m 18 years young?

After going with the flow of attending a college a lot of my high school friends were going to, realizing it was the wrong decision  (a lesson well learned), and coming back to the hometown are when things starting slowly turning. I tried to hang out with too many different friend groups I didn’t belong in, forcing myself to go out and drink on the weekends when I knew deep down I did not want to 90% of the time. I was attending  a community college; skipping classes, no passion for going because I didn’t know what I was going for. I don’t know what I want ‘to do when I grow up’ and I didn’t like the thought of deciding on a life long career in 4 short years, paying thousands of dollars on a major I might never use.

I honestly starting learning about myself and what I truly wanted by starting to stay in more on the weekends, hang out with Kolin who pratically has the exact same thought processes as I do. I started working out more, drinking less, and exploring my hobbies and interests.  Kolin and I realized we want to discover more, adventure more, and just enjoy living, so that’s what we’ve been doing! Moving to Colorado with Kolin is by far the best decision I have ever made. And how did we get here? Listening to our own intuition, for far too long I was basing my life decisions on other people’s opinions and suggestions.

People tend to complicate life too much, making it harder than its supposed to be. Following the same beaten path just because it’s ‘what you’re supposed to do.’ Life is about taking risks, discovering what’s out there, making mistakes and learning in the process! That’s what makes life so exciting. I promise my posts won’t usually be this long, but I needed to give a little intro and background of how I am where I am 🙂

Oh & the name of my blog is Boho En Route – which to me means two things:

1. Boho (Bohemian) lifestyle – to me, means living an alternative lifestyle than what’s ‘normal’. Minimalist life, care little about material things and not needing much to be happy, besides traveling, discovering, and doing things I love. which is being in nature, working the minimum so I can afford the basics (food, shelter) and utilizing my creative side.

2. En Route – because I love where I am at but I haven’t figured it all out just quite yet. I’m still learning and changing my future plans by the week. Who knows where I will end up in 20, 30, 40 years, but that’s what makes it so exciting!

sorry for this longgggg post, but I hope you enjoyed. Stay tuned 🙂
