Helloooooo again, it’s been a lil bit since I’ve posted anything so I thought I would give you guys an update on what I’ve been up to.
Since leaving my job at the natural health store, I’ve been searchin and searchin for a new job, full time so I can save up some cash for traveling this summer. Now, that I have officially turned 21 (whoop whoop!) I thought I would take advantage of a great opportunity Colorado has to offer me.
I just accepted a position as a Budtender with the biggest company in marijuana retail in Colorado. They have multiple stores all over Colorado and are growing out of state. Full-time. Full benefits. Amazing pay. I feel very lucky. In order to work in the marijuana business you have to pass certain qualifications to get your license from the state in order to even apply to stores. I’m super super stoked to work for this company – they hire from within for upper positions and it’ll be awesome to see where this takes me.
I’m pretty much trying to make this sound as professional as possible for people who aren’t living in CO and weed still has a taboo kind of thinking on it. Who knew you could be active, professional, educated, and interested in weed! Customers range from elderly people, mom and dads, corporate leaders, to your typical stoners. It’s very normalized here, just think of me as a bartender but even fancier 😉 I am determined to end this stigma marijuana still carries, even in 2015. It amazes me it can be more frowned upon than alcohol & cigarettes (like have you done your research?!). I’m so used to it being normalized here, it’s a shocking reminder to be on social media with people from the Midwest and to be look downed on for this. I know it will catch on, Colorado just got a head start 🙂
So that is the biggest update in my life. It’ll be weird at first to be full time again but I get 3 and a half days off a week so that’ll be perfect for mini roadtrips and some hiking. The rain is FINALLY coming to an end (kind of). At least the sun is finally out after a couple weeks of pure darkness, and the temps are getting warmer.
Memorial Day was soooo much fun. Kolin and I had a picnic in downtown Golden, threw a disc around for a couple hours, took Max out to the dog park, and finished off with a bite to eat downtown. My life is slowly but surely shifting with me being 21, the summer months are coming near, and I have a new job where I will get to meet all kinds of awesome new people and potential friends.
Anyways, that’s all I got for now. Hope everyone’s spring has been nothing short of amazing!
until next time,
