Cannabis Appreciation Day

Ahhh, it’s April  20th, unfortunately such an infamous day for stoners around the world. Since 420 can get such a bad wrap with non-smokers, I thought I’d create an appreciation post for the medicinaleconomical benefits of cannabis!

I’ve been in the medical marijuana industry for a full year now & the amount of knowledge I’ve sponged up along the way has been amazing. I see miracles happen every day from something as little as helping someone with arthritis, to Parkinson’s, to cancer. This industry has been an eye-awakening experience to be a part of and I hope I can awaken a few others.

First of all, with cannabis still being classified as a Schedule I drug (meaning no medicinal benefits), it’s hard to find official, government-funded studies/research on the plant in general. But, people are doing what they can, and it’s pretty obvious cannabis does indeed have many medicinal qualities.

There are numerous chemical compounds (cannabinoids) in a cannabis plant, not just THC (the psychoactive cannabinoid). There’s CBD, CBN, CBC, THCa, CBG, and the list goes on. Everyone has a endocannabinoid system in their body, everyone!

“Endocannabinoids and their receptors are found throughout the body: in the brain, organs, connective tissues, glands, and immune cells. In each tissue, the cannabinoid system performs different tasks, but the goal is always the same: homeostasis, the maintenance of a stable internal environment despite fluctuations in the external environment. Cannabinoids promote homeostasis at every level of biological life

The chemicals in cannabis are like a key to a lock when it comes to our endocannabinoid system, it’s pretty amazing. The benefits to our body are endless; cannabis is anti-inflammatory, relieves pain, proven to shrink and stunt growth of cancer cells, relieve insomnia, treat depression, reverse carcinogenic effects of tobacco, control and decrease seizures and muscle spasms, decrease anxiety, improves metabolism…I honestly could go on for much longer, but you get the point!

Not only are there all these benefits of cannabis, there are also more options of ingesting it besides smoking. There’s trans-dermal patches that go right onto your skin and seep into your bloodstream, there’s edibles, tinctures, salves, oils, drinks, even tablets you can swallow. Some people even choose to juice the whole plant and turn it into a smoothie.

How beautiful is all of this?? It’s ironic that cannabis is classified as a Schedule I drug, yet the United States government owns a patent on cannabinoids and all their medicinal benefits…and there are over 24 states and counting that allow medicinal marijuana.

I could create a whole new blog post about hemp & its benefits. From being able to replace paper, cotton, gas, concrete, etc; hemp is much more of an economical and earth-friendly choice for our material products we use every day.

It is exciting to finally see the Reefer Madness & war on drugs slowly unwind. Although we have a long ways to go, humans are awakening and realizing that not everything the government says is for the benefit of the people.

Please take April 20th as a day to research the endless benefits of cannabis, CBD, THC, and hemp. And for my already-cannabis-enthusiasts: toke up, smoke up, eat up!

🙂

until next time,
